Boss DS-1 with ultra seeing eye mod

Just pulled the trigger on this one, not Keeley as you can see, but the guy has good feedback and the price seemed reasonable.
Any thoughts/opinions? Did I make a good choice? Prolly should've posted the question before ordering, but I'm impulsive like that...

I have one of those.
Its sounds good
Not every one loves Keeley , but ,
I had a great time with mine over several years, tours and CD's.
With the right guitar and amp it screams.
I most often used it in conjunction with another box either a clean boost or another distortion. Sometimes a TS9 other times a Blues Driver sometimes an SD1.
Somehow the DS and SD sounded right together.

The Keeley DS-1's seem like a good investment to me. Whether you're doing the mod yourself or buying.

They are exceptionally malleable across 80's guitar spectrum. Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Ratt, Guns N Roses. I've been impressed with them, just not my cup of tea. I' a fuzz/synth guy.

I had one done a few years back. I was really excited about it, but when I finally got it...meh. Nothing to write home about. Certainly a vast improvement over stock...just wasn't my thing. I can see where some folks would love it.

Thanks for your honest input guys.

My chain will be: MXR Dyna Comp > Crybaby 535Q (in bypass loop) > MXR GT-OD > Boss DS-1 > Boss CE-3 > MXR Carbon Copy.

I'll let you know how it works out when the pedal arrives.

I've got a Keeley, and I find it excels as a heavy overdrive for my single coil Tele. As for humbuckers, it sounds anemic by itself with my EMG equipped explorer. BUT, paired with a tubescreamer and it cops fantastic old-school Metallica. All through a clean Bluesbreaker combo.

YMMV, but great pedal. And I got mine for $90!

It may sound really good stacked with your MXR GT-OD.

Pedal arrived yesterday, sounds great!
Much less noise than stock, not too smooth, that's not what distortion's about, but reacts very well to picking nuances and guitar volume...the bottom end comes through really strong with the switch in the down position too.
The gain goes right up to about 3 o'clock without getting too fizzy...and when I kick the GT-OD in behind that, well I'm in Metallica land, more gain than I'll ever need!
In my opinion, this pedal is like the MXR, in that you just can't get a bad sound out of it and at £55, I could have paid a lot more for a lot less, so I heartily recommend one of these to anyone who's looking.
