Reverb Pedals
I have a Holy Grail pedal that I've been using with a Tele and a Mesa Boogie Mark IIB. It always sounded just ok, and now it's starting to crap out on me. I'm not going to buy another one. I'd like to find something better.
What reverb pedals have you guys had good luck with??? |

Line6 Verbzilla...very authentic lush reverbs, and the cool OctoVerb setting.

I really like my RV-3 for thickening up my tone... But it won't do spring reverb.

It isn't high end, but the Marshall Reflector works for pretty much all my needs. The spring reverb is pretty convincing. I think I paid $30-40 for mine on sale. Small, solid, metal case.
My only criticism is that the knobs are chrome with black lines, so can be hard to read in the dark.

I'm no reverb expert, but I've been fortunate to own a Boss RV5, Line6 Verbzilla and a Malekko Spring Chicken with dwell knob. I loved them all for what they did but in the end I only kept the Verbzilla for it's amazing reverb sound scapes (plus the octo and trails preset) and the Spring Chicken for the simplicity of a Spring Reverb. So far, to my ears it's a really good emulation of a Spring Reverb. =)

how much did you guys pay for your verbzilla? also, I am somewhat reluctant to buy anything from Line 6. Any amps that they make have always sounded crappy to me. Are their pedals better than the amps?

Encouraging thread. After trying a Holy Grail, I always assumed that all non-spring reverbs sound horrible and never went further. But some of these sound great, at least on the web clips. The Hermida and Mr. Springy came across best to my ears. I emailed Hermida to get a little more info - like how far up it's turned to get those sweet, lush, bluesy tones! (If it's doing it below 1 o'clock, I'm a goner....)

how do you feel about rack effects? i use a boss se-50 for a lot of reverb. it's an older unit but usually can be found on the cheap on fleabay. it's a multi effect unit that leans heavily on the reverb side.

I really Love the Hermida Reverb pedal, It has the Soul and tone of a Good reverb.
Great products, I also had a verbzilla from Monster Mike Welch's recommendation and they are very good also. Kenny Blue Ray Pro since 1968. |

Another RV-3 user here, I use mine on the plate setting-not quite a tank 'verb, but a good, usable sound all the same. I'd get a separate delay pedal, though if I were you-easier to control.

BYOC
I just got one of those BYOC kit reverb pedals and it's pretty darn good. It's a fair decent imitation of a spring reverb. (jes' MHO, yer MMV..etc...)
Controls = tone, dwell and reverb. dead simple and cheap too. got 4 of those BYOCs in my board now. (not affiliated) Last edited by Stevie 202; November 13th, 2009 at 05:33 PM. Reason: Did I mention they were fun too? |

I really like the reverb + delay settings. Basically the reverb is set at a mild rate and unchangeable, and you use the knobs to adjust the delay. The reverb settings on their own are quite tweakable. The delay is as user friendly as anything else without tap tempo. I really like it, but as always, YMMV!
