Box of Rock kit from MEK uk-electronic
Finished the Klon kit and couldn't be happier. The tone is killer. I haven't done a side by side comparison with a real one, but I imagine it's close. It really fills out the sound whether clean or dirty, choked amp or overdriven. The demo's on youtube don't tell much but it's definately similar.
So, I decided to pick up their BOR kit. It arrived today and I just got back from lowe's getting a box. I'm going to try to update this thread as I finish the pedal. I'm really impressed with their prices and shipping. And the layout's and manuals are easy to follow (with the help of google translate). Here's a pic of the klone... And a few pics of the kit thus far. |

I just ordered their Dynacomp kit (going to do some mods to turn it into a Janglebox), and some parts for building a Liquid Sunshine.
That Klon kit is really intriguing, but I've already got a boatload of boosters here (AMZ Mini Booster, Stratoblaster, Microamp, LPB, Zoom PD01, Groessl Bumblebee - the latter two are actually said to be really close to the Klon in tone), and the price is a bit on the high side for a kit... |

If you have a link about the dyna comp->janglebox thing I'd love to see it. I'm selling my dyna on ebay right now, and was really digging the JB sounds online. I'm using a dr z stang ray and it's not as sparkling as a vox, so I was thinking with a JB i'd be able to sparkle it up. I just can't afford the JB's price tag. Would love to know what mods your making to the MEK kit. It might be next on my list. Thanks

Got the board wired and the pots on. Got to go find more wire before construction continues.
For anyone thinking of getting a kit, their photo's and diagrams don't always match perfect, however they are very helpful and quick to respond via email. |

http://freestompboxes.org/viewtopic....nglebox#p30953 some more info & pics: http://freestompboxes.org/viewtopic....ilit=janglebox On the Dynacomp kit from MEK, the cap that has to be removed (or made switchable) is the 1 nF sitting in the middle of the board, between those 2k2 and 150k resistors above the CA3080 chip... |
