Deluxe Reverb pedal before an acoustic amp?

How workable would this be? I switch back and forth between my Tele and my acoustic a bit, and I'm getting tired of lugging two amps around. That in addition to the fact that I'm not happy with my current amp setup anyway and am looking to trade up. I would like to get a real DR, but that may not happen any time soon. I'm currently playing through a modded Classic 30 that was basically converted to an Orange clone. Hot little amp, but I'm just not getting anywhere close to the classic Fender cleans I'm looking for. That, and the reverb tank was yanked on it. I figure on trading it off with the Crate Vintage Club 4X10 cab I got with it. Will be the perfect amp for somebody - just not me.

Here's the combo I'm talking about:

So my hope is that I can put an amp modeler like the DR pedal into one side of my 75W acoustic amp. That would allow me to tote one amp and simplify my rig tremendously. Yes, I know it won't be the real deal but I'm wondering if it will be a workable solution? Thoughts? I'm thinking that even if I do eventually find my "dream" amp, that the pedal would at least simplify my practice rig. Three trips back and forth to the truck for every practice is getting kinda old....

For that matter, we play a few pretty small venues with a small house PA. Is it feasible to put this pedal between my Tele and the board or am I asking it to do something it's not designed for? So far I'm only carrying my acoustic to these gigs - partly because a "real" amp would have to be choked down entirely too much to be able to breathe.

Hmmmm........does that tell me something? Hey, if it's a stupid question, somebody just tell me. I can handle it! I was seriously considering picking up a pedal and trying it, just hoping to get some feedback first. I'll brace myself for the first "you're an idiot" response.

In the same case of going back and forth between my Tele and my acoustic, I chose the opposite way :
I only take my DRRI (or bigger Fender if the gig make it possible). My "electric" tone is totally satisfying and the "acoustic" is good enough. Now I use a Para Acoustic DI to split my acoustic signal 50% to the amp and 50% to the mains. It has some limitations but it's working pretty good. I doubt a sim pedal will get you there, but I might be wrong ;)

I hear ya. Problem is, I'm at LEAST as picky about my acoustic tone. Acoustic through an electric amp just doesn't do it for me, but I'm hoping modeling into my acoustic amp will at least be passable. My preferred setup is straight to the board - either miked or plugged in with my custom built dread and K&K pickups and preamp. I searched high and low for a decent acoustic amp that would give a pretty natural reproduction and serve as a mini-PA. Dual channel with a mic input (which most decent acoustic amps have these days). So, I guess what I'm looking for is an acoustic tone which is "totally satisfying" and an electric tone which is "good enough". At least until I can find my dream amp. And - even then - a setup to serve as my practice rig.

The more I read up, the more I'm considering passing on the DR pedal in favor of POD or Pandora, though.

Methinks the only real way to answer this is by actually trying it in a store... "acoustic" amps are in a sense self-contained PA systems, so a modeler designed to go into a PA or recording desk is probably what you're looking for. If not the DR65 pedal, maybe a pocket pod or something along those lines might work... prepare to do some legwork, though, I don't think anybody here has tried your approach...

Yeah, I was thinking Pod. I really like my XT live.
It works great direct to the board so it should suit your needs fine.
