the other guitarist in the band has an ocd, and a hardwire disortion, and a pork loin.
I messed with his pedalboard the other night, the ocd sounds good but is it compressing as much as I thought I heard? Is it actually a compressor/distortion?

Not really. Maybe you have the drive really high? All distortion boxes compress at extreme settings and the OCD is not intended to be a "Metal Zone" type of pedal.

I put the drive on my OCD at about 1 1/2 that's enough right there.

Or I use it to overdrive my amp, I don't consider it to useful as a stand alone distortion.

I have two OCD's on my board at the moment.

One is set with tone and gain on full with volume around 50%. HP.
It is my high gain sound. Very compressed. Very Marshall- huge bottom end.

The other is set with everything around 50% LP- it is a medium gain tone- more an overdriven Deluxe sort of tone.

The OCD is capable of a lot of compression when the gain is high- this is no different to any other dirt box- the more gain, the more compression.
