Rothwell Love Squeeze Compressor review

I've been on a compressor search for the past few months and I think i'm in LOVE lol!!!Anyway I had been using a Barber Tone Press for the past 6 years or so,don't get me wrong it's a great compressor but I was wanting to find something else.I was looking for something a little more squishy enter the Retrosonic compressor which is based on the Ross compressor, cool little box but had some noise issues and it was a little too squishy for my tastes. So I went on Pro Guitar Shop and started watching some of the videos and low and behold I found the Rothwell.Rothwell is a new company based out of England and they have a few of their pedals on Pro Guitar Shop,so I got on the phone last week and talked with Rusty who answered all my questions about the Rothwell.Rusty said they had put the Diamond Compressor and the Rothwell side by side and said they were very similar I know the Diamond has gotten great reviews.Rusty also said the Diamond had a little more gain which is not a huge deal.So I bit the bullet and got the last one they had and a couple of days it showed up it.The compressor is really sraight forward Level and compression and the attack is fixed and no tone knobs to deal with. Ok so I took it out on a band gig last weekend and man this little compressor just knocked me out.I had the level set around noon and the compression set at around 11:00 and this little gem had me grinning from ear to ear.It can get squishy to if you want so I moved the compression up to noon and the tone just got fatter and rounder and then I moved the Level up to around 1:00 and this little gem was just dripping with tone.I was running thru my Fender Twin Reissue with Celestion G12 Century speakers and it was CHICKEN PICKIN' HEAVEN!!!!I was playin' my early 90's Amer. Standard Tele with Dimarzio Twang King in the bridge a Seymour Duncan Strat stack in the middle and a Jason Lollar neck pick up and it was pure Tele heaven!!!It also made my Rockett Pedal Flexdrive overdrive sing like a bird.I'm really stoked about this little pedal, if anyone has any questions I'll be glad to answer them.I think this company Rothwell is gonna be very successful in the pedal industry. You can check out the clips at Pro guitar shop once again it's called the Love Squeeze and it's lives up to it's name for sure!!!Mark Moree aka DblStop

My 35 year old eyes can't take solid blocks of copy anymore... at least ones that lack spacing around the punctuation at least.

Double stop, it's ok, this is an effects board, not about punctuation, I'm glad you like The Rothwell and are excited about it, some people on this board don't like compressors, that is fine with me, everybody's different. I hope I get to try one some day

Hey guit30 thanks bro, i'm really diggin' this comp i'm finally startin' to get it dialed in.Hey guit30 how do you like the Wampler compressor?I understand it's similar to the Tone Press is that true? And does the one you have have the bright switch on it??I had read that Brian had gone back to makin' them without the switch.Hey once again thanks so much for your posts my friend.Have a good one : ) Mark Moree aka DblStop

Rothwell Compressor

The tones that Andy gets out of it at Pro Guitar shop are just sweet and sweeter. I have heard that it is a variation of an Orange Squeezer, ala Dan Armstrong. The Wampler to me is alot , the only pedal that I use. Actually, it is not similar to the Tone Press, I have used a Tone Press, which is a real nice booster, but it is called a parallel compressor, The Wampler is just a variation on the Ross circuit that has a blend knob, I have used Keeley's, I like this better. There was one Keeley that I loved, wished I had it back, others I tried were not so good. Actually, The Wampler has 2 separate circuits with a different ic for the clean circuit, it makes for a good clean boost too, but I like to use it to enhance my chicken pickin'. The switch really is very subtle, sometimes I use it. What Brian did was make the comp without the switch like the tone with the switch on, so I'm glad I have the one with the Switch, cause I like the tone better with the switch off. If you have heard any of the utubes of it, you can tell it is a great comp with loads of sustain, the blend knob is great and so is the attack knob, I like to back off the blend switch to add in some pick attack. The pedal has so much sustain, and plenty of compression which I like better, so I mess with the attack to get that pinched sound of a dynacomp.
The Rothwell has tone that is so rich, yipes, I wanna try one some day, keep pickin Doublestop, nice name.
Jim

Hey Jim thanks for answering my questions about the Wampler Compressor,I may have to pick one up down the road.Man gear gas is the worst, and there's soooo much great gear out there now it can be a little overwhelming sometime.I'll have to watch some you tube clips of Brians compressor.Once again thanks so much. Have a great one, Mark Moree aka DblStop

Can somebody compare by experience, the Rothwell Love Squeeze Compressor and the Diamond compressor?
The Diamond has the useful tone control which works well, albeit theoretically, for my needs as I have both single coil and humbucker guitars.
But I haven't been able to a/b them first hand.
So any ideas would be great to help me make the correct choice as at my house, money doesn't grow on trees.
Thanks fellow guitarists
