If money wasn't a consideration

I'd get an H&K Replex, no question.
A Tube Echoplex without the tape.
Con: not really a stompbox, pretty good sized but
would fit on a board.

I'll second Stan on the Replex. It's far and away the best tape emulator.

I just got a Maxon AD999 and I love it - lots of vintage vibe.

You got a AD999? Kick ass! I didn't realize they were finally shipping. Have you compared it to an AD900? I'm very curious to know what the difference is other than the longer delay time.

We're going to need a review on the AD999!

SIB Mr. Echo

It's digital, but has an analog vibe.
Bought it to replace my ageing Westbury analog pedal.
It also has this dopey slam button that's all but worthless.

After hearing the Fulltone tube tape echo

my Guyatone MD3 sounds like a toy. Actually it sounded great before I heard the Fulltone, but now I'm starting to hear that metallic ping that comes with the territory with DDs. I'm aware of the Replex, and would like to hear one. Anything else out there worth looking into that comes close? Anyone tried the Guyatone flip top tube based echo?

the guyatone flip didn't sound any better to me than the regular guyatone.

i've just gotten a Mr. Echo. So far so good. i'm liking it. and i like the slam button, but it is useless at the setting i usually use (slapback). quirky cool, kinda like those goofy surf siren wah wah pedals.

Maxon

AD-80 warm as a fireplace on Christmas eve and pretty darn quiet.

He used a TC electronics 1210 spacial expander in his live rig. Early on he used a Reverb/chorus combination. Also he nearly always used 2 different pickups each with a different signal path.
