Luther Perkins Style

Aside from palm muting, what is needed to create the L.Perkins sound?

Luther Perkins used heavy gauge flatwound strings and lots of treble...and no effects, since they didn't exist then.

Luther Perkins used an Echosonic amp for some time, that had a built in echo.

For Luther sounds you'll just need a slapback echo, no other effects; any delay pedal should be able to do this, but an analog one (or an analog-sounding digital one) would be preferred!

Sure, use the "Tape" setting, set the repeats for only one or two at most, and use a rather short delay time, that should work!
Also, use the bridge pickup on your Tele (the middle position, while not 100% "original", might also work well), and a clean sound from your amp.
Flatwound strings would make it perfect, but are not really an absolute "must"...
