Enough Pedals!?!

I like pedals, I only use one at a time, depending on what I want, My Nashville Hot boost is probably my fave, I got one to review last year, and ended up buying it for 50 bucks. I sold it and bought a VooDoo Labs Sparkle Drive which I tired of quickly. The Nashville pedal for me had no bad settings, hard to find as pedal like that. Sold the Sparkle Drive and bought another Nashville Pedal, will not sell it. My Hartman Compressor is similar to the Nashville Hot boost, they both have a 4558 ic, So, I get plenty of compression out of the Nashville pedal.
The Wampler Ross is my Squish pedal, It took me a long time to figure out how to get the circuit to sound good, now I love it, So, I have been swiching back and forth with them, and sometimes I will get out the Hartman (Dan Armstrong, nice pedal with some simple compression). I guess the only other thing I like is Reverb, though my amp reverb is nice, would like to try out something like a Spring Chicken by Malekko.
Jim

I love reverb too and the problem I have is not all my amps have it.

I have tried a few reverb pedals, nothing really sounded springy enough. I think I'll have to save for an oldskool outboard unit. I really think that is the way to go with reverb. Though pedals are fun they lack that punch and intensity that springs create. It's also nice to have those springs hanging like in an outboard as I do think it gives a different tone to a spring mounted to a amp's cabinet. There is always that new Boss Reverb pedal, should be springy, but will it sound authentic we'll have to wait and see.

If you have not tried the Lee Jackson Mr Springy pedal then you are in for a treat. It sounds so much like a Fender tank it isn't funny.Check out Lee Jacksons website. Dozens of testimonials and links to youtube demos.I use a Mr Springy with my 63 Brown Deluxe and the reverb is comparable with my 65DRRI.

Reverb is very important to me, but boy is it hard to find something. I have a Fender '63 re-issue that is very good. But I need to try some things like a new pan with more springs, switch out some tubes, and maybe even a capacitor (based on what I have read). Meanwhile, I just got a reverb pedal by Hermida that really makes me think of the Fender. The shape of its decay is very close to the Fender decay. I don't hear much of the attack in the reverb, but that is a good thing for me. Speaking of Hermida, I just got a Zendrive2. Holy, moly. While it gets beautiful distortion sounds, those aren't for me. Play with the knobs (gain, voice, tone) a little, and I get a very wide range of OD sounds. These are highly responsive to pick attack and the individual notes of a chord are the clearist for this level of OD that I have heard. It uses a 12AX7, so experimenting with that sounds like fun.

Reading and listening to the video is a bit confusing, this guy is a super guitarist, but is he always using 2 pedals or is there times where he is just using the one?
Jim
PS- No, I listened again, when He is playing country, He is using the 59 Bassman with the 63 Spring Reverb, and for surf He uses the other amp model, not a true pic.
-Anyone try Malekko Spring Chicken or Trex Reverb tone bug?

as the owner of many, probably too many pedals, i think that the vast majority are one trick ponies... the one's that aren't the keepers that become indispensable ...

I'm all about the Dr. Scientist Radical Red Reverberator for reverb. It doesn't have a spring setting, but its plates are amazing!

For OD, I've been sticking with my Fulltone FD-2 for a looooong time now and it's probably going to remain my #1 OD for a lot longer.

For Delay, I can't find anything that can beat my Deluxe Memory Man, though the DM-3 I have is useful sometimes when I can't be bothered lugging the DMM.
