Best Squishy Compressor?

Most compressors I've seen lately seem to market themselves as compressing and sustaining without squashing your sound too much.
Now, what if I want my sound squashed? What pedals should I be looking at?

For a coloured compressor I would absolutely recommend the Telenordia Kompressor.

It is germanium based, not linear at all- completely coloured, squishy and gorgeous.

Are the orange squeezers (and clones) any good for this?

If you can find one, the original Boss (the CS1) has the most squash of any compressor I've ever tried. The ones I've seen used were going for around $150.

Later...

Good old Dyna Comps do a good squish.

Crank the sensitivity. Very squeezy.

The compressor gods have answered my prayers with a half price Carl Martin Compressor/Limiter at my local guitar shop. Wow, wow, wow.

Dyna Comp for sure.

DOD Milk Box does good squish.

I had a BBE Orange Squash...didn't squish enough for me.

Dyna Comp is a great value. Got one new at GC for 65 bucks.

The Keeley Compressor squashes very much like the Dyna Comp, only it doesn't have the hiss.

Boss CS-2 was the most processed squishy sounding comp I have heard, I never tried the CS-1. I far prefer the Dynacomp and Dynacomp inspired pedals, but to me they sound a lot more natural, even though they can be quite extreme too.

I picked up the Marshall ED1 and have been pleased with it's performance. I use it to balance things out with and add a very light amount of squish. My setting is about one third of the available compression, there is enough squish in this box as to almost create a delay effect. Along with a hi/lo emphasis and attack adjustment, this a budget jem of a comp. Dave
