If I was in the market for a wah, I would be looking at the BBE Wah. It looks like a great pedal, and isn't very expensive.
I've heard good things about Custom Audio effects, but I don't have direct experience with them. I can't for the life of me figure out why there's a signature EVH wah, but maybe I missed Eddie Van Halen's wah period somehow. It seems like everyone's got a signature wah pedal now. Who's next, Brad Paisley?

i'm not considering getting the evh wah because of its namesake (although the paint scheme looks pretty cool). i just like it for the features |

When did EVH use a wah? Why would you want a crackling pot? Just wondering.
for the price maybe you should also look into a 535Q, Buddy Guy, Slash, or Budda Wah. It seems to be a lot more practical. Even the CryBaby from hell can get great tones. I heard someone at a hotel play it on funky-disco tunes. |

I'll reiterate my advice to check out the BBE. Everything I've tried by that company is solid.

FWIW, I've read many wah users on the 'net prefer Budda or Teese wah pedals...though I know it's not the answer you're looking for. Good luck! |

If you can work a soldering iron, BYOC or any other wah project and customize it to you hearts desire.

Not long ago I was asking myself the very same question. I went to GC and sat down for a couple hours and generally made a nuisance of myself until I found the right one. For me it wound up being the Dimebag Crybaby From Hell. Although I really liked the super swampy sweep of the Zakk model and the no-switch-switching on the Morleys, the CBHs fine tuning capabilities and adjustable/switchable volume boost sold me. But ultimately I think that you'll serve yourself best to go play with all of them and find the one that does what you like. Even if EVH wasn't known for his wah tones.
