which pedals are absolutely essential for a smooth jazz/blues/fusion board?

Like the thread title says, which pedals are absolutely essential in a board when the style is smooth jazz, blues and fusion?

I really dig the tone of Steve Lukather, Steve Morse, Paul Jackson Jr., Frank Gambale, SRV, Andy Timmons, Eric Johnson, and Johnny A. (I know it is all in the hands, don't need to be reminded of that.)

I'm not trying to cop their sound, I just want to know what you'd put on a board if you had to cover their songs in one night. All these guys use such different stuff to get their sound.

The challenge here is that you can only use one guitar the entire night - a strat (for this example) and you're playing a backline amp (and haven't a clue what it is until you get to the gig). So let's say the amp is a Marshall valvestate (just to make things interesting).

What kind of board would you bring to the gig?

Volume pedal, compressor, 'smoother' OD (I like a ZenDrive or a Menatone Howie), clean boost (FB-II) - chorus pedal (I use an aNaLogMan 'clone chorus') and delay. Sometimes I'll bring a phaser or a wah too. A tuner also. Depending on how much compression I'm going to use, I may reverse the comp/vol pdl order. And - heresy I know - a Strat.

LOL - I just noticed that I didn't change the guitar for this forum. I meant to change it to Tele for this forum (I posted this same thing over on a few other forums). I don't even own a Strat. Sorry for my heresy - obviously I meant a Tele!

What is an FB-II?

FB-II is a Fulltone FatBoost2. Damn good pedal. If you're gonna do Jazz you gotta have a boost pedal capable of small amount of dirt.
