MXR Dynacomp

Hello There,

I'm looking for some settings for the Dynacomp for some country music.
Maybe someone can help me?

Best Regards,
Johnny Bernhard

Yep, that'll work. I actually like mine about there on the volume, and a little lower on the right hand knob. But I don't like things super squished. If you are after a more modern, nashville-style sound, you'll want a little more compression, so turn the right hand knob up a hair.

Mine setting on this moment is the left knob on 4'o'clock and the right one on 8'o'clock.
Do you have also a booster? With the Dynacomp at the same time?

Usually, with the Comp's volume set at about 3-4 o'clock, It gives me a little volume boost over the clean amp by itself. If I need it louder than that, I turn up the amp, turn up the volume on the comp, or both.

I usually find if I need to be louder, or cut through more, I step on my overdrive. I have a dual stage OD (Fulltone Fulldrive II) so I can set the OD kind of light, but get a significant volume boost out of it, then step on the boost side if I really need things dirtied up. Works for me. For rock gigs, I'll just use the Fulldrive, and then one of my Tube Screamers. Lots of volume and drive variations available that way.

Booklet for reissue recommends 1 oclock for volume and 11 oclock for comp, that sounds pretty good, thesec comps are pretty hot

I like the squish....

The volume knob should be used to match the dry volume.

I turn the compression knob to about One O'Clock.

With my Blues Junior and any of my Tele's; I'm at about noon on the volume and one on the comp. to get the dry volume to match the compressed volume.

I love DynaComps. They are simple, they sound good, you can get dynamic control or the big squish and they don't get super noisy untill you crank the compression knob past three o'clock.

My old Dynacomp (post script logo but before they had on/of lights) was magic with both the white lines facing each other.
