Volume pedal ?
My son just got a Behringer pedal board ( real nice for the money BTW ) for his birthday. He will be using some of my spare Boss pedals untill he has the money to buy his own pedals. He wants to use a volume pedal as well , and to place that one easiest on the board it will have to be last in the chain....
Ive never used one myself , whats the difference between using one first , or last in the chain ? Any recommendations ? I have seen some used Boss pedals for very little money , any of them any good ? |

+1 After anything that will change the volume and before the modulations with exceptions of course. Depends on what pedals he is using I guess.

this works well for me, because it acts as a noise gate in situations where neon lights, dimmers etc. induce hum/buzz into my single-coil pickups. when you raise it up all the way, it kills all signal for complete silence.

Mine is second to last, right before the delay. That way when I do volume swells, the echo sounds natural. I have it after the chorus.

Thanks guys , I only just thought about this now: I guess we can try different ways to plug it in , no need to move it around as such......dohhhh.
There is a lot of room on that Behringer board , it should not be that hard to wire it up in different ways.... |

I prefer mine on the front end but I've had it after the distortion pedals from time to time..

Ditto.

BUT there really is no RIGHT or WRONG way to use it. Use it before the distortion to control the gain, use it at the end of the "chain" to control the overall volume, or use it before the time-based effects (like delay and reverb) to control the echo... |

As many ways as there are guitar players, I guess. I go into my O.D. first, then to my Ernie Ball Vol. Pedal then into my BOSS CH-1 Chorus. A pretty "no frills" set-up, but works for me.
You might just try all the suggestions and see which one works for you best. It's all a matter of personal preference. |
