I use a Marhshall Reflector.

I love the spring settings.

My neighbor has the Valve jr - he didn't like the idea of my DSP-laden Cyber-Deluxe and joked that he wanted an amp with only one knob. Careful what you wish for -- his wife called me the next day for ideas for his birthday.

Punchline: as soon as he got it he said he wants to add reverb.

I'd suggest given that there are no eq or gain controls on there, and a little boost should push that baby nicely, that he try the Boss FDR-1 Fender Deluxe Reverb pedal which has not only reverb but all the other front-panel controls from that venerable amp, including tremolo.

Has anyone tried the FDR-1?

Yeah, the FDR-1 is a great suggestion...great pedal. It's really a Deluxe Reverb in a box....we'll not really, but it does an excellent job of getting close to a Deluxe.

Never really found a Reverb I liked, pedal or otherwise. I do run a delay pedal though. I think reverb is overrated, I much prefer the crisp sound of a Delay, than the mushy muddy sound of reverb.

On that note I do have a Line 6 reverb pedal that is almost brand new and hardly used. I tried it yesterday to find it no longer works. So If you buy one, I would hardly recommend the Line 6 pedal.

I don't know, I have a Valve Jr. that I run through a 2x12 avatar cabinet and use the Line 6 Verbzilla. It seems fine. Not as nice as the fender outboard tank, but ok to use. It does eat batteries like a Hummer eats gas though...

If you are looking for that reverb sound, you could do worse.

I don't have my vj any longer. But when I did, I used a Boss rv-3 in front of it. They have been discontinued for a few years, but it gives you reverb and/or delay.
