dumb question about wah pedal battery drainage

Hey, I have a Vox wah which of course can only be powered by a battery. If I leave the cables plugged into it while its on my pedal board but there's no power running through the board, its just sitting in its case, will it still drain the battery???

Just wondering b/c I want to get my pedal board to where I just pull it out, plug in my guitar and amp and go. I'm sick of plugging and unplugging the wah every time.

Thanks in advance for answering my dumb question.

It's not dumb. I'm not completely certain, but I'm 99% sure if you leave it plugged in it will drain the battery. This'll happen with about any battery-powered pedal, unless it also has an adaptor plugged in. For instance, the manuals for all my Boss pedals suggest having both a battery and an adaptor. The pedal uses the adaptor by default, so that assures constant power, and the battery is there to get you through a song or set if you accidentally unplug the adaptor from the pedal.

If you have the maual for your wah, it should say something about this. You can probably find it online if you don't have it.

there are adapters for when you don't have a power out. Like this one I'll be using when it shows up on tuesday.

No way around it unless...

If you place your wah first in your pedal line up--with no cable going into it--the battery won't be draining while it's sitiing in a case. I personally have my wah at the front end whenever I use it.

Just an idea.
