How to clean corrosion on (V connector

I've got 2 really cool vintage pedals - Guild Foxey Lady and a Japanese "Crazy Face" and both have corrosion on the 9v battery connector. Any solution that would clean this off?

I have used a tiny piant brush and "navel jelly".(sp?)

Just let it set and use a damp rag to wipe it off.
