Anyone using a Line6 ToneCore Crunchtone?

I considering getting a distortion pedal for use in Rock'n'Blues.

Anyone using a Line6 ToneCore Crunchtone? How do you like it? How does it compare to other distortion pedals.

Thanks,
Allen

People seem underwhelmed with them, but if you want one, they're $29.99 today (23 October) only at Musician's Friend as the "Stupid Deal of the Day."

I used one for a long time, but it's not great. You need humbuckers and a really bassy amp to make it work, otherwise it's a bit of an icepick

Well, because GC would beat the MF price by 10%, I bought one out of curiosity.

It's OK. Just another dirtbox, better than a lot of 'em. It keeps a reasonable degree of clarity in complex chords, my acid test for dirtboxes.

It has a good deal of range, but is so complex that I haven't been able to get it apart to check what it actually is. Much of the circuit is in a sealed module.

It's a huge amount of pedal and circuit for $30, however you feel about its sound...which is mostly dependent on its interaction of your particular guitar and amp anyway, so YMMV. Always. You can at least use the docking station with another module.

Site info.

You're not going to find anything meaningful to you in there... unless you're a DSP geek. You'll find a buffer, an ADC, a DSP, and a DAC.

It's a digital modeling pedal it's not an analog circuit.

That certainly explains the short battery life complaints!
