Old Electro Harmonix Pedals
Someone I work with has lent me some old electro harmonix pedals he's had since the early 80's, he got them from a friend when he started playing guitar but gave up and they've been in his cupboard for 25 years or so. There's 3 of them:
A Big muff with no battery compartment, looks like the us reissue, a Soul preacher sustainer and a Doctor Q Envelope follower (like an auto wah) with battery compartments. They still have the original boxes, instructions and warrenty cards and say made in New York on them. All the pedals seem useable to me, but obviously the price would influence how much I want them. What do you think they are worth? If you need any more info from me just ask, but I have no idea what would be a reasonable offer as I'm not very clued up on fx. Thanks for your time. |

Have you tried watching for some of these pedals on ebay to see what the market will bring.
If they are in good shape with the boxes they may be worth more than $150. I think that it's harder to find vintage EH pedals because the tin boxes with sheet metal screws didn't hold up as well as an older Ibanez or MXR project box. I don't see many pre-80's EH pedals in stores that usually have vintage pedals. There were thousands of the LPB-1's that plugged right into your guitar...try to find one now.

I've always considered myself extremely fortunate to have found my 1977 Big Muff pi. It's one of the short-run op-amp versions, supposedly only 2000 or so were made. I paid AUS $220 to a starving student to get it :)

Early 80s Electro Harmonix units are oh so sweet! Of cours,e keeping them repaired and un working order is another chore, and an expensiove one, but boy, when they work, they sound like heaven!

Wish I had an old Big Muff to go with my Clone Theory and Bad Stone. I picked 'em up in a pawn shop in the early '80s for 20 bucks each. Nothing has ever replaced them. But the Clone Theory is starting to get noisy.....bummer.
