I like that stuff
I don't own the SanAmp Classic yet, but I do have a GT2. I've got to tell you, I really, really like almost all of the San Amp and Tech 21 products.
If you've not yet checked out some of their amps, you should. Not tremendously great clean tones (they're ok), but the over drive tones sound wonderful to me.

Was he playing through an amp?
Or direct to the pa?
I know guys that swear by the classic with the little switches but I've always been able to get the same tones with the GT2 model. Not sure if they're exactly the same circuitry.IMO the sans amp has always been great,I remember when they came out they blew people away. Now you can use the Protools plugin version and that is amazing too. There's always "one more" we need ,ya know. |

i use a GT2 often times for recording chores.
IMO it sounds way better than the pod stuff. some may scoff at it for the lack of knobs, but it is extremely versatile. the active tone controls make it so that just a hair movement of a knob will yield a different tone. the pedal is very dynamic as well - cleans up when you roll down the volume. i see alot of cab sim stuff on the market, but Tech 21 has actually adressed 'mic placement' - another very useful feature of the pedal. the Classic is considered a holy grail pedal, but i like how they've stripped down the GT2, especially with the 3 gain levels on the switch - just pick 1 of 3, and then tweak it with the gain KNOB. best of all, it doesn't sound very diode-clipping-ish, if you know what i mean. it can 'breathe' a little too much 'hair' at the higher gain settings, but these can be ironed out pretty well with the right settings. obviously the Marshall and Mesa settings can get out of control quickly, but are fairly tameable as well. considering i bought the pedal back in '98 and still use it fairly regularly, i have concluded that it is a great pedal, not merely just good or usable. 140 bucks well spent.

i had the classic for a while a few yrs back and liked it a lot. the switches were a bit of a pain though. but through a clean tube amp like a champ, it could sound like a micro Marshall.
I use the Tech21 TM10 amp now which I find easier to sue as it has knobs and only 3 switches. Based on the GT-2 technology. its amazing. and I found it incredible for recording. and its the best for home practice. I almost sold it at one point, had it up for sale and all, but pulled it, and am so glad. it would have been one of those very dumb sells. it gets so much use from me. |

I use a Tech 21 Trademark 10 myself. In fact, I stupidly sold my first one, realized immediately that was a mistake and got another. Great flexible recording/practice amp.
halouis, you know me from another forum, different name! I contributed to your TM 10 settings page Minneapolis Slim :D |

Howdy Jack Knife (M.Slim) sure i know you. you've doenm some incredible recordings with your TM10. great settings too.
Yeah I use mine more and more these days. my band just did a demo. for all the rhythm stuff i used the big amps, but for the leads which i did without anyone else around, i just used the TM10, and man it worked like a champ. TM10-> marshall4x12 and an SM57. I would have liked to try it with the SM57 right on the TM10's little speaker, but wasn;t in the mood for too much noodling. |

I'm going to try running the TM 10 through the Celestion Blue in my Beaufort. It's an 8 ohm speaker so it should work pretty well.
I'm really only getting my new TM 10 this Friday. I sold my other one a bout two months ago and have been pining for another ever since. Found one on this board as a matter of fact, for the smae price I sold mine for. It'll be like I never did the deal! |

I have a GT2 and a Trademark 10. I bought the GT2 in '96 and used it for direct recording until I bought my POD, but it doesn't get much use since I bought the Trademark 10. However it's useful as a life-saver to throw into the gig bag. The Trademark 10 is about the only amp that gets any use at home these days, I've also recorded with it and used it to jam with. My only comment is that unless you boost the mids above half way the Trademark 10 really gets lost against a band, but that's just EQ 101 I guess ;)

Tech 21
I bought an Acoustic DI from a fellow TDPRI'r a year or so ago. It is a wonderful little box! Used it for acoustic and electric with excellent results. I wound up selling to my buddy who does a singles act. He needed it much more that I at the time and I can always use it whenever needed. He has an 84 Taylor 810 and a 70's Guild jumbo 12 both fitted with I-Beam's. He runs direct into the PA. His tone improved 100% as soon as he plugged into the Sans Amp. Great products. Great company.

The New Guy UPDATE!
seems that since joining the band he really admired my playing and tone...now, he's a bad boy, younger than me by about 23 years but I guess the old guy showed him some new tricks....he's been complementing me on my tone and said that he loved my use of stomp boxes....very tasteful to use his words...little did he know that the board was just used for the inline tuner...everything else was disconnected...after some time, we were jamming and he asked if he could play thru my rig...sure nuff I said.....he looked at me and wondered why his tone didn't sound the same as mine and started hitting all the boxes...I smiles and told him that the tone was "au naturel"..... so later, I set his amp and guitar up the way I liked it and we tweaked it alittle....anyway...now he's playing without anything but a cord and really feeling his oats....he actually is sounding better than before cause now the tone is coming from his fingers....
and of course from the Strat that I built and sold him.... funny, I admired his tone thru the Sans Amp Classic and he was really into it but now...he's also playing au naturel... sorry about any typos or grammer errors, I play better than I type....don
