Alesis Nanoverb for Guitar Amp?

This is a topic that came up very briefly in another thread.

Does anyone use an Alesis Nanoverb for Guitar Amps with no reverb?

It is designed really for use in an effects loop. But one guy here I talked to plugs a guitar directly into it and takes the output to the amp input with good results.

Could this work as well as a reverb pedal?

works great. I use it on my homebuilt amp all the time.. it is a great unit and can be gotten inexpensively.

Yep. Have one I use with a 59 RI Bassman. Not expensive and sounds good.
It is powered with a wall wart though.

nano verb

I did this for awhile too. I kinda liked it.

I find that it sounds alittle Digital like now. I wish it had a tone control to dial out some of the tinnyness. but it will sound different through different speakers. So If you have a Dark sounding speaker in your amp the nanoverb will sound Great.
I really like it with an acoustic guitar.

I've got an older version of a used Alesis MidiVerb that is really cool for the boatload of effects. It's a rack mount item, so it's size is kind of clumsy, but I've used it with my amps, and home stereo.

The new NanoVerb and PicoVerb both look pretty cool.

I use a nanoverb and like it very much. Great reverb and I really like the chorus too.

I also like the stereo outs, as it is a good set up to run two amps at a time.

I use to use my Nanoverb in my non-reverb amps with good results.

I recently picked up the Picoverb and tried it out through a new Champ 600 at GC. I found that it changed the tone COMPLETELY. After I unplugged the Picoverb and plugged straight in it sounded WAY better. So, I don't really think the Picoverb was made to go in front of the amp. I never tried a side by side comparison with the Nanoverb, but it seems to me that if it made THAT big of a difference, I would've noticed it anyway.

I found a guy selling one for €30. It's the II version.
Looks nice to use with my acoustic for live shows. I'm looking for a pedal to do it but they're too expensive!

Stick with the Nanoverb it has mix control the microverb does not and the Picoverb SUCKS!!
Yes!
I use the Nano constantly even on my reverb amps I like the control and sweetness it gives at the tail of your notes just a little bit and a longer decay.

I use an old rack ART Multiverb Alpha before the input of my HR DeVille 410. I prefer the digital reverb to the internal spring reverb. However, I don't just plug my guitar straight into the ART, and you shouldn't with the Alesis units, either. They will load down your guitar and drastically change the tone. I run through my pedal board first, with buffers my guitar signal before the ART.

If you use amp distortion, you need to use the effects loop. Since all my overdrive comes from the pedals, I tried both the loop and running it before the input. With the level controls set correctly in both cases, I found no difference in the noise levels between the two schemes. Therefore, I've opted for the front end approach because it takes fewer patch cords and removes the loop buffering circuitry from the signal path (plus, there are fewer things to go wrong, like a bad loop jack).

Did you forget to say "IMO" and "YMMV"???

I like my Picoverb for recording purposes. As I said above, it's a real tone sucker in front of an amp though. Apparently this isn't a problem with the Nanoverb??? I never a/b'd the amp with and without the Nano, so I don't know.

I still have my Nano, but it hasn't worked correctly since someone emptied a beer all over it. It does work sometimes - when it wants to. It sits in the bottom of a drawer doing nothing now.

I used the Nanoverb for a while with my Top Hat Vibra-Trem, and I found that it gave good results. It still had a digital sound to it that I really couldn't live with.

If I remember correctly, Duke Robillard used one with his non reverb amps, and that's why I tried it in the first place. I figured that if it's good enough for Duke, well......

It was the best of the digital reverbs I tried.

Nano for what it is works great to fill the small gaps.
I have a Nano Compressor and have found no usefulness for it yet.
Then I am into stomp box compressors.

Used one with my Blues Jr., as long as you set it not to clip it gives you a great choice of 'verb's.
Hmmmmmm, i might just do it again.

I have used them for years..... I mentioned that in the other thread. I had 3 of them at one time! They are so handy. Now, I only have one, which I have started using to provide reverb to my 79 Fender Champ. Perfect for guitar amps. I used to use one in the effects loop of my 4x10 Blues Deville. Not only to provide reverb, but the output control was a handy way to fine tune overall volume of the amp, if I kept the master combo volume pretty high, so the power tubes were driven.

By the way, Microverbs do have blend control..... there's several great large room patches that are terrific blended with the dry signal. Since you can get them for less than 50 bucks and they're so small, they are often a great alternative to pedals.... often more flexible too

I have used my Nanoverb in the parallel fx loop of my amp (it didn't have a serial fx loop), but that didn't work out satisfactory. I had to dime the fx mix control on my amp and still the added effect wasn't like the real deal.

My advice: use it in a serial fx loop or in front of the amp.

I always seem to go to mine when I need a Reverb.
The funny thing - I've got a white knob Blackface that's worth a grand that sounds amazing but I never wanna bring it anywhere for fear some ******* will spill something on it or trip over it or a dozen other things.
So...it's the Nano.
BTW, Nanos sound amazing with Tweed Clones.
