Voodoo Lab love?

I love my Superfuzz, and am considering augmenting my pedal board with the Sparkle Drive & Micro Vibe.

Anyone else impressed by Voodoo Lab gear? Whatcha got?

The Sparkle Drive will give that Stevie Ray Vaughan tone almost.

I have the micro vibe, just got a sparkle drive, and a two knob trem and a pp2. I really like their products.

Good stuff, I have the tremolo(4 knob) and pedal power2+. I would not hesitate buying Voodoo Lab products. Also, they are very easy to deal with if you have any issues or questions.

Love my sparkle drive. It's great with other pedals too. A ts9 into a sparkle drive gives a very convincing dumble like sound. The sd into a blues driver is also very nice.

I too love my sparkle drive, I've had it over a year and no issues...I just bought the analog chorus and it's the best sounding chorus that I've ever played through...

I like the Tremolo and the Sparkle Drive...

Good build quality, though they had issues with their switches for a while. That was a while back though.

The Fulltone OCD is a refined/modified version of the Voodoo Lab Overdrive.

Sparkledrive query

How do you use the clean knob on your Sparkledrives? It sounds to me like it would add another wrinkle compared to other OD pedals. Yes, or no?

I've owned most of their pedals at one time or another, all well built and great sound, the only exception may be the proctavia. But that jusy may because an octave just isn't my thing .

For what it's worth, the tremolo has been on my board since 2003. Most pedals don't make it much past a year at most.

I have the SparkleDrive and the MicroVibe. Love the SD, but haven't really found a good use for the microvibe. Will probably end up selling it or trading it for the trem.

Yeah the Proguitarshop.com is based out of Tigard, Oregon (Outside of Portland area) I would suggest going to Youtube.com and adding them to your subscription list and you can watch video's of the pedals being demo.

I really like the Sparkle Drive, too. It compliments the sound of just about any amp. Absolutely pure magic with Vox-ish amps too. My "rock sound" is pretty much a sparkle drive...everything around noon....into my AC30 or Black Cat 30R...Rich and think.

I also have their Analog Chorus, Trem (4 knobber), and PP 2, so I guess I fall into the fan category too. Mine all get gigged regularly with no trouble at all.

They have a new wah coming soon that looks pretty cool.

I really, really like my Micro Vibe. It's great not only for nailing things like the intro to "Breathe" by Pink Floyd, but for adding more, I don't know how else to put it, "swirl" and "action" to your solos a la Robin Trower (the obvious example). For years I was torn between chorus pedals (either too subtle or too warbly sounding in their pitch changing) and phase shifters and flangers (most of which were too over-the-top for me). The Micro Vibe, for me, strikes the perfect balance.

Unlike others, I haven't played around with the internal trim pot--I like the sound as it is out of the box. And yes, as others have suggested here, I like it best when it's placed before your overdrive/distortion pedals, not after.

Welcome to the forum!

+1 on the the Micro Vibe. I got mine for essentially the same reasons you mentioned above. I sold my Phase 90 in favor of the Micro Vibe because I found I was only using it on a low sweep setting, and couldn't find a use for the more radical sounds.

Hi TeleBrew,

Thanks for the welcome! I've been lurking here for a while and decided to join in on the fun.

In case anyone is wondering, I own a 1969 blond/maple neck Tele (unfortunately modified heavily when I didn't know any better, and then I spent a lot of time and money putting it back to the way it was in the first place), and a 1986 Japanese paisley reissue--a superb guitar. Oh yeah, I also own some non-Tele guitars

I just got a Micro Vibe, and I like it, too. I was looking for something swirly, but not like every other swirly I've ever heard.

Shocking, though, to find how much treble this box eats. It's DARK.

I didn't know there WAS an internal trim pot. What does it do? Can it restore some of the treble I'm losing???

Huh. I just got my Micro Vibe and haven't noticed a treble loss, so much as a slight volume loss. I'm digging it, though. I'd always dismissed Uni-Vibe pedals as one-trick-ponies, but I was wrong. I also love the Superfuzz I got in January. It can almost do the deep Big Muff thing, along with '60's buzzy fuzz, smoother overdrive sounds, and everything inbetween.

I'm a big Voodoo Lab fan now, so I'd check out anything they do. The tremelo is definitely on the horizon.

It'd be interesting if Voodoo Lab were to come out with an analog delay.

I email voodoo that question about them doing analog delay and they said right now they don't have any plans on introducing a analog delay. That could change if there is a demand and see how well the MXR Carbon Copy sells.
