My $5 Boss PH-1

I bought a Boss PH-1 project box from an online classified, I was assuming that it was just the metal box, you know, something to mess with. For $5 It would be stupid to not buy it right?
So it arrived today and after fishing around the packing peanuts I found this:

Sad piece of metal, but after digging around I found that the seller added this:

All the guts! I found that several wires were clipped, and thanks to Boss's colored wires I just re-soldered them together, and guess what? It works!

Well I guess nothing is perfect, the LED is busted, and I don't have any knobs, but everything else works.

I feel great now, and phasers are fun to mess with.
I have some questions though, where can I get replacement knobs? And can I just buy an LED from Radio Shack or something?

Thanks

You can find knobs like crazy on the 'bay. Mix and match, go nuts.

I don't know if the LED may have to be a particular type, but I'm sure Radio Shack or some place like that will have it.

I'm surprised how much I like this phaser. In the list of effects I wanted phasers, flangers, and wah-wahs were towards the bottom, I played them through my RP-50 and GearBox, but never really mixed it with distortion. A fun box nonetheless.

hecubus, thanks for the links, I'll keep them bookmarked

If all else fails, you can use some small doll or toy parts for arms, like an arm or head from something. That would be unique, maybe rename it the Franken-Phaser
