Mine arrived today. Tonight's rehearsal was cancelled but I went over to the band room just to try out the CC.
I set it up for some slapback through the effects loop of my Goodsell and was playing Mystery Train when our soundman dropped by. His first comment was "Man, that amp has great reverb!"
I told him the amp doesn't have reverb and showed him the pedal, which he thought was very cool.
Then I dialed in some longer delay, hit the modulation button and got a nice China Grove sound. Previously I had tweaked both internal trim pots a little to the right for wider modulation at a slightly faster rate.
The modulation is subtle. If you want more of an Andy Summers vibe the R7 tweak might be the way to go; however, doing so voids the warranty. I might do it anyway just to have some deeper modulation.
I've just scratched the surface with this pedal and am looking forward to putting it through its paces with full band playing.
The bypass, whether "true" or not, works for me...I could hear no difference in my normal tone with the pedal off.
I've always been a guitar-cord-amp guy, but the CC looks like it'll be a permanent fixture in my rig.

I was originally thinking the same thing, then I read this was designed by the same guy who did the Way Huge pedals. I've played the Aqua Puss before and to my ears this sounds really close.

I've heard the new Way Huge stuff is going around 250....!

300ms isn't enuff for me. The AquaPuss Reissue will be more $$ & less delay time. As cool as I'm sure it is, and even with all the hype surrounding the original AquaPuss, the CC is the way to go for me.

Mine should be here today. If it's not, I know an ebay seller who's going to get some negative feedback...

If you search for MXR Carbon Copy, there are 3 vids on youtube as of last night.

Some suggested settings from MrHuge, designer of the CC:

Note: the mod switch is engaged for the cathedral setting.

INITIAL REPORT:

The Carbon Copy is very cool. I would consider it awesome if I didn't have an AD-999 or a Line 6 Echo Park. Here's the scoop, the way I see it:

The AD999 has darker & more distorted repeats. Even on the very 1st repeat. I prefer this for most if not all of my analog delay sounds. I feel the darker delays are more musical (rockabilly, country, even blues) and the CC is more digital-sounding than the AD999 in this regard. However, the CC is more "analog sounding" (of course) than my Line 6 set to "tape" OR "ANALOG". The Line 6 models really aren't very good. Good digital tho.

The Mod (chorus) on the CC is dreamy, and the cleaner repeats of the CC work better FOR THIS. Actually, I think I even prefer the Line 6 (set to digital) if I want to use modulation. I don't think modulation would sound very good on the more distorted repeats of the AD999.

For me, it's a toss-up; the CC is nicer than the Line 6 for most stuff I use a delay for (country, blues, rockabilly), but not "clean" enough to use (with mod) for Edge/U2 territory. I prefer the AD-999 for analog, I prefer the Echo Park for digital & modulation.

The CC is a very nice pedal tho- and if I could have only ONE then I'd probably split the difference and use the CC. (but I CAN have more than one...)

Still living with it, jury's still out!

I just ordered mine from tunnelvisionmusic.com They're on eBay and had one left after I ordered mine. This will be the third time I've ordered something from them and the service has been fantastic so far. Free shipping priority mail shipping, too.

Can't wait!

I'm getting a lot of mileage out of a variation of the "Slap 2" setting above, with regen set at about 8:00 and the mod button on.
Makes for a very lush reverbish sound.

p.s. I also tweaked both internal trim pots...turned both full right then backed off each one about a quarter turn.

Sounds good, I want one, are they available in the uk? I've been after an analogue delay for a while now, but they are quite expensive.

Do you mind if I ask the source of this info?

Seems likely since Dunlop's Jan 4, 2008 press release talks about hooking up with Way Huge pedals by a partnership with their designer, Jeorge Tripps. However they have three new "Way Huge" branded pedals but I did not see any MXR literature or ads connecting Mr. Tripps with any of the other products. The Carbon Copy is an MXR branded product shown at NAMM and just hitting the stores now.

However the only place I see "designed by Mr. Huge" is on bulletin boards - so where is the skinny coming from?

Vizcaster, those settings are from a post by MrHuge (Tripps) on TGP. He also mentioned that the pedal is indeed true bypass.

Another piece of the puzzle...click the link below and notice who owns the gallery, then scroll down and check out the carbon copy demo.

Jeorge Tripps' gallery

One more bit of evidence: over on TGP Tripps posted a tweak to the pedal that increases modulation. It involves changing R7 from a 470k resistor to a 100k resistor, and he mentioned that doing the tweak voids the warranty.
I thought about doing it until I opened up the pedal and saw that the resistors are the tiny surface mount variety.

I have a problem with the regen control. Mine goes from ONE repeat to SEVERAL, like 6-7, no in-between. I've tried numerous time to 'coax" it into a sweet spot, but no go. Either one slap, or 7 repeats (or more as you turn up the regen, of course.)

Anybody else have this issue? My Maxon AD-999 repeats control is not this touchy/sudden...
