Richter tweed with Weber Alnico Speaker
I own a Richter amp and the previous owner said he switched the speaker out to a Weber Alnico...
Can anyone help me understand if this was a good move or bad? Any info would be great! Thanks! |

I don't know what speakers Sara puts in her amps stock, but Webers are fine speakers and probably the closest to the stock Jensen that would have come in an original Fender tweed that anyone manufactures today. Also from all the sound samples I've heard, the Richters are very good sounding amps.

You need to give us the specific model. If it is something like a 12a125 it was pretty much designed for a tweed deluxe style amp. From the Weber site "The favorite for period-correct Tweed Deluxe tone (5E3): [12A125A, 8 ohm, 30w, light dope]"
If you go to Webers website you can look up the model numbers and read their recommendations. https://taweber.powweb.com/weber/ |

Follow the link I provided. Select vintage series, scroll down to the 12" speakers, left column 5th one down 12A125A, it has HOT flashing next to it, click on it and you will get the specs.
It is the one that says "The favorite for period-correct Tweed Deluxe tone (5E3): [12A125A, 8 ohm, 30w, light dope]" Yours is in Blue. Do you have a Blue amp jewel as well? That combo is supposed to sound the best. |

If you get the build date on the label and email Sara she can likely tell you what the original was.
I believe for the past 4-5 years they came stock with Jensen Electric Lightning speakers. Seems they use that speaker a lot. |
