Your Opinions Please!

So I got a nice 1x12 cab loaded with an Eminence Wizard "Redcoat" speaker just sitting here giving me guilty looks

After a recent successful Boothill 5e3 build I would like to build an amp kind of a polar opposite of the Tweed to go with my 1x12 cab. I am looking for low wattage, great sound, likely British-flavored amp to go with the Wizard speaker.

My first choice is the Ampmaker SE-5A kit. Are there any other good options for consideration out there? Thanks for your opinions and thoughts.

I would think an amp with a pentode input along with an EL84 would be nice.

Pentode input? help me a bit on that. What amp kit would you suggest based on that?

How about the Matchless spitfire clone (from ceriatone). I came across this video and really dig the tone he is getting. He also is playing through an eminence Wizard speaker

So what are the real differences between the Se5a and the Spitfire amps? Spitfire has more watts I see but both have 12ax7/EL84 tubes. Are these similar in sound and gain?

Thanks.

+1 for the Spitfire. Plenty of layouts out there. Ceriatone, Watts, etc.

Same general idea on the tone as the Spitfire.

Do you want SE? When printer2 suggested a pentode input and an EL84, my first thought was "AC4".
