No doubt it is chimey although sometimes I wonder about replacing the master volume with a cut control.

Put the cut capacitor in series with the volume pot, instant cut control. Just put a switch across the capacitor and when the capacitor is shorted you have your regular master volume.

I like option #1, this amp sounds better with the master all the way up anyways
