Hello! This is for my fellow newbie brothers and sisters(?) (Wish there were more :))
One advantage for working for a tech is I've seen dozens of old and new amps over the past couple months. Here's some tube pin pics that may help:
Probably everyone knows on the 12ax7s Fender bent the heaters 4&5 together (9 is on its own...lonely). Also, you may have a design that calls for linking your cathodes together (3&eight). You can just bend them in! You can remove the center piece of metal from the socket, if it has one. Tidy!

Good Tip, Andy.

Be aware that if there be a metal piece in the middle...

...that middle piece secures the two sandwiched halves of a ceramic tube socket.

If it is removed...

and you didn't fold over two outside pins...

...the assembly will come apart.

Easy heaters.
Also, a resounding yes re: what Hackworth said. I ruined a socket with my kit. I didn't realize on some 9 pins it holds two halves together.
Also, I was hoping others might add fun stuff here :)

That is good to know. Now I can repair one of my sockets.

The "Drill Twist" works great with plastic insulation, even some of the newer cloth-covered, but when you do this with the old vintage heavy gauge heater wire, it doesn't evenly twist, then suddenly 'crushes' (for lack of a better description) the cloth insulation. The resulting TP (twisted pair) is so stiff and kinked. It is great for perfect bends and flat runs, but good luck if you have to un-twist any of it to make your connections!

Lol Charis, I'm starting to wonder when you sleep!!!! What time is it there?!?!
I know, I kind of wish I were using solid wire for the heaters, it's a tight squeeze on the 9 pins.
I'm about to blow some minds (not really) with a few wiring deviations on the heaters, output tubes, and pt.
Will update the build thread soon.

JST is 13 hours ahead of Georgia time. I know because my brother and sister both live just down the way from you in Marietta.

That's why I went solid. Plus the faux vintage factor.
