Amp question on a build

I'm in the middle of my first build. It's going along fine, but I'd like to know a little bit more about what I'm doing. I'm wiring it according to the diagram, but would like to a little about why I'm doing what I'm doing. Some of the terms used in amplifiers. Any helpful sites out there.

You could try The Valve Wizard or visit the AX84 site or take a side trip to Tales from the Tone Lounge.

google books on tube amps: One by Hunter and one by Pittman that are both good for the novice.

+1 on the Valvewizard site. Take your time, there are a hundred little things it is helpful to know, when putting together an amp.
On the other hand, sometimes making little mistakes (ones that don't blow up transformers or electrocute you) is a very instructive process.

Try to get the power supply (B+ rail) & power tubes section just exactly right, and be anal retentive about it. Mistakes here can be very expensive.
The preamp section will be much more forgiving of little errors that everybody makes, and is a great training ground for troubleshooting your build.
