Whet to Amp Class & Look What I built
After years of buying amps, I signed up with Peter McMahon at Diaz Amps to attend his amp building class. Three days later, I had a working Fender 5E2 Deluxe clone amp from a Mojo kit that sounded heavenly. Peter started us with a little theory, safety, and soldering lessons. By the end of the first day we had completed our circuit board. For a guy who had only swapped out speakers, this was a major accomplishment. The second day we installed the transformers, pots and jacks, and the third day we were testing our amps on the bench and finishing the cabinets. Assembling an amp reminded me of building an engine--- cleanliness, organization/layout and biasing/testing were critical. Peter ran a first-class operation and building my first amp under the supervision of a master amp builder was a great experience. Maybe my next amp will be a Tweed Reverb? I understand that reverbs and vibrato can be challenging?

Very cool! My next build maybe a 5E3 but that won't be until around the end of 2011.
