Vinyl decals for plexi faceplates?

I have a couple of amp projects that are waiting for respectable faceplates. They even have plexiglass cut and drilled. I've tried printing on regular paper and mounting it behind the plexiglass plate but the paper looks cheap and Florida's humidity kills it in no time.

Screen printing onto the plexiglass is expensive because of the setup involved... $50 and up for just one faceplate (and you KNOW it's never perfect on the first try) is going to put me in the poor house. Has anyone tried printing vinyl window decals and sticking them to the back of the plexiglass? If so, did it work well? How much did it cost?

Thanks!

I can't say that I've done that, but I might recommend printing onto transparency stock instead of paper. It should resist the humidity a little more and look a tad slicker in the long run - and you can paint the back gold too!

I plan to give it a shot on my next build, but based on how long my first one took to get underway, that could be in 2053.

I went to a local copy shop and let them print out my faceplate on (kind of) photopaper; I think this paper is more robust than normal paper. But I'm not living in sunny Florida, here im Hamburg humidity is not a question ...

Here how it looks:
