1962 AC15 Clone

Hi All,

Here's my AC15 clone, :

A copy of a 1962 AC15 I had in for repair, and at the moment have on loan!

The voltage selector is home made from Paxolin and plug parts, I wasn't going to pay $50.00 off ebay for one!

Did Someone ask for more pictures!

The BLC between the jack sockets stands for "Blind Lemon Chitlin" which is the alias of the person in the States who has the chassis made for the amps he builds.

This picture shows the other side with the tagboards mounted ready for component placement and wiring, I'm using vintage Carbon Composition resistors as in the original AC15's.

Mains transformer and smoothing capacitor fitted, shroud on mains transformer is only a temporary one - new one ordered! Power chassis has been Bright Nickel Plated and Passivated and looks much better.

All control panel fittings in place, note vintage indicator lamp, tagboards fitted and component placement started.

The mains transformer and heater connections.

The preamp panel heater wiring.

The lower tagboard nearly fully populated with components.

The wired up input jacks and trem speed switch.

Tag panels and other wiring nearly completed, waiting for some more components! Wiring needs tidying up!

Mullard Valves in place along with my reconstituted 1960's Radiospares Smoothing Choke.
Big hole where the output transformer should be (The expensive bit!)

Naff picture of underside of chassis!! few more components added, waiting for wirewound resistors!

The underside of the Preamp - note vintage mains lead with
real mains lead colours!

The control panel

The view from the opposite side.

The underside of the power chassis

Here's another picture with the protective film removed:

The Black and gold Escutcheon came with the chassis, but I wanted one
the same colour as the original 62 AC15 as in the first post, that one came from Australia from Glen, it was the last one he had in stock!

Paxolin is the old English name for what they call SRBP these days - I'm showing my age

The circuit is the version 3 edition, and the layout is a copy of the 1962 AC15 I have here!

I've had many requests from members of the Shadows music community over here for me to build amp copies for them.

I am involved in modding modern Vox amps to give the old Vox sounds,
particularly the AC30CC and AC15CC series.

I also built a copy of an original AC4 circuit into a Pathfinder cabinet!

My plan is this year to build an EL84 based 15w amp "Plexi Style" using an
EF86 in one channel.
