Mojo Blackface kits, anybody try em'

Yeh, guess I'm late to the party on this one, but has anybody tried the Mojo
Blackface kits ?
Seems they have a way for me to re-buy all the amps I sold 2 years ago.
Anybody check these things out ?
AW

I haven't built a Mojo BF style kit, but I've used their stuff in the past (chassis+faceplates and other parts), and would recommend them. I love their cabs to death.

Not to shill but they have a sale for whole kits, can't go a la carte. Which means I'll have a Jensen 15 for sale.
I'm gonna' roll on a Pro.
The BF kits prolly' rock.
Temptation rears its hoary head.

Ouch.

I haven't ordered a kit, so maybe that explains why my stuff from them gets here faster.

Over a month?! Damn.

You can't order a kit w/o speaker? Man, I've got speakers out the yazoo over here, if I can't delete them, I'll hafta look elsewhere. Seems to me I emailed them a few years ago and they were fine setting up an a la carte special for me, but that was years ago and a transmission self-destruct derailed that order, so I can't really comment.

Good Luck.

The no a la carte thing is because of the "sale". W/O the speaker actually costs more.
Seems a bit "odd". In so far as I am sittin' on 2, 15's already I sure don't need a third.
The kid on the phone said they could ship the bits in a week, the cab in 2.

Yeah, they say they're waiting on the choke. They offered to send everything else now, but I'd have to pay an additional shipping charge for the choke when it came in! After making a customer wait over a month they can't even throw in a shipping charge?

Funny thing is, I ordered it as a "Deal of the Day". You'd think that when they advertise kits as the "Deal of the Day", they'd have them all together ready to ship.

It temps me to ask if they will charge the card *when* they ship.
Which I don't suppose they will do.
I guess they are not doing computerized inventory lists over there.
Or they just want to collect the orders.
Not the tightest of ships , me thinks.
Hey ?

I purchased 6 kits from them including the princeton reverb clone. Excellent quality parts, especially the cabs. All kits were complete, no missing parts, and sometimes extra stuff was included.

Parts arrived in less than a week and cabs arrived within two weeks.

I had a couple of technical issues while building that were resolved quickly via e-mail.

There are no instructions for assembly. Just a schematic and layout diagram.

The PR clone was a very tricky one. I enlisted the help of fellow TDPRI members to complete the amp.

Well, I finally got my Mojo kit yesterday (ordered back on 9/16). It was supposed to be "Signature Required" so I was surprised to find it sitting in front of my garage when I got home from work, especially considering I never got an email saying it was sent? There were two boxes, one with the cabinet and one for all the parts. Everything was packaged very well but when I inventoried all the parts, I found that one tube was missing. Urgh!!! So far I can't say I'm too impressed, but the cabinet is BEAUTIFUL!

I'd be pissed if they charge you shipping on that missing tube. Otherwise, it'll take time to assemble the kit anyway.

A back ordered choke and a missing tube, 2 minor strikes against them already. Back ordered stuff sometimes isn't anyone's fault. Missed items happens with bigger companies - it's how they deal with these normal everyday hiccups that matters to me.

This is where you really get to see a company's customer service. Let us TDPRI'ers know how they do.

For what it's worth I had back orders, missing parts, and all sorts of stuff from MusiciansFriend, EMG, small vendors, large vendors, you name it. For the most part service ends up being pretty good. EMG, TubesAndMore.com (or CEDist.com), Ceriatone, and Turretboards.com have always been above and beyond... exceptional service.

I only order cabs or chassis from Mojo, so I've never had large complex orders. I'm curious to see how they do in this case.

1) I purchased a Marsh 5E3 Kit which is just a rebadged Mojo kit. +1 on quality of all parts except the Jensen speaker. Still have it but my main speaker for the amp is a Weber 12A125. Also have a Blue Dog and Silver Bell set off speakers that I put in it on occasion for a different flavor. I assume their Blackface kits are of the same caliber.

2) WHOA!! I just checked Mojo's prices and the BFDR is as cheap as the BFPR making it a no-brainer for me. Now, how can I sneak one (or both) past the wifey??

I've had excellent experiences with Mojo, they are very responsive and their orders are shipped quickly. I'm sure they'll make it work for you.
