Good call Telenut. It's used and I'm not sure they know what they have yet or at least the Saturday morning crew didn't. I think cash in hand and close to the end of the month will do the trick if it...

Yeah the Brass Armadillo. I knew the tester was high. It really did seem like mostly TV tubes. Several 6AU7s. A lot of 6j6s and some huge glass I bet were for radios. Really wish I was better at tube...

Hopefully the vendor keeps it up. Be nice to have a source for NOS tubes. The tester is pricey but prices are non negotiable bc the antique mall just provides the stalls. Would be fun to have

Planning a 5F1 project. Advise needed

I want to build another amp this year (Boot Hill 5E3 last year) and the 5F1 seems like a good candidate. Money will be a little tighter this year, for now.

I'd like to do the 5F1A (10" speaker)...

Antique mall find (Tubes and tester)

Never know what you'll find at the big antique mall in Des Moines. I went looking for vintage safety razors (other hobby) and I find this wall off tubes! RCA, GE, Sylvania, Hitachi, and more I can't...

Just don't touch the tubes with your bare fingers. It was not necessary to remove the chassis on the one I owned but it sure made the job easier. No real risk unless you go poking around the insides...

Just make sure it's a C1 or better. I had a cc1 that didn't bound with, but the price was right for a trial. The cc1 didn't have the tone cut

A G&L Tribute if you can find one. I've seen used in that price range and the mfd pups on those are very versatile. Build quality has been same or better than others IMO.

Opinions on a G&L ASAT and price

Hi all,
There's a G&L ASAT at the local shop for $750. Black paint, satin rock maple neck, medium jumbo frets (felt narrower and taller but that's what the tag said), perloid pickguard, dome knobs,...

+1 VOX
Vox AC4TV would get my vote. That 1/4W setting lets you really go tube tone nuts without disturbing the neighbors too much. It can be heard through a jam too. Can be snagged for under $300...
