Zoom H2 soundclips/samples ?

Any Zoom H2 owners that could do me a favor ? Record some acoustic guitar clips and post them here ... I've found some clips / samples on the net, but they sound almost too good to be true ...

H2 samples should work now

Hey, 1st off, sorry about that. Something must have happened when I uploaded the file, rather, mabey mediafire just didn't like that particular file. I tried uploading it again, and no luck (same thing) I renamed and uploaded it, same thing, wierd, still gave me origional file name after upload!
So, I totaly reworked the file and uploaded it under a completely different name, and it prooves to be working now.
Here it is, along with other samples in other sound scapes that I've recorded with the h2.

I sure hope this all works.
Happy New Year to you

I finally got one ... I've had it for a week now, and I've played around with it quite a bit !
Short "quick and dirty" review:

Pros :
- Ease of use !
- Many recording formats to choose from (MP3 misc. bitrates, different quality wavs ...)
- Normalizing & converting to MP3 of WAV files "onboard"
- Works as an USB memory stick ! Ie. no special file transfer SW needed !
- Size ! Fits easily in acc. compartment of guitar case !
- The tuner function ! :-)
- Sounds good !
- Package includes everything apart from the batteries ! 512 MB SD Card, Mic stand adapter, cables, power supply e.t.c ...

Cons :
- A bit "plasticy" ... not worse than You'd expect considering the price though ...
- No remote rec. start/stop function ... Ie. You have to "fiddle around" with the H2 to start and stop recording --> Annoying "fumbling" noises in recordings ...

- Doesn't cure "red light nervosity" ! Ie. my fingers still seem to know when I'm trying to record something ... he he ...

The H2 is a strong contender for the "best gadget purchase of 2008" race ! :-)

Short sample : Martin OM35 & Zoom H2

Recorded directly as 192 kbps MP3 using front mic & 'comp1' compressor setting, LoCut set to off ...

I've been watching the H4 and the H2 for a while now.
They seem to be just the right gadget for me too - I just didn't have the right small change though.

Now I just saw a new Kid on the block

No, I haven't tried it yet, Eddie.

the money situation won't allow it right now.

Here's one (well two really)...

...which I recorded straight out of the box within 30-minutes of getting mine.

It's a little ditty I wrote about my daughter.

Go to: MySpace. I'm quite happy with it but I know I can get a better recording now I know the device better. I also threw in an old classic for fun.

Also, have a listen to my band's efforts with the device. The first three clips are in a BIG church hall and we recorded our last songwriting session when we just threw together three songs we've been working on.

The quality of the recording is about clever placement of the device and where in the room. Once again, we know we can get better but we were on a roll with words and lyrics.

It's a great toy. Best £120 I've spent in the last few months.

I just bought a H2 on ebay, really looking forward to using it. Been watching videos and reading about them and the thing that is most appealing to me is the simplicity of using it and the quality of the recording it gets...should work real well for me

I love this li'l hunka 'lectronics - too easy to make perfect on-the-spot *quality* sound bytes, and a piece o' cake to transfer to the pc and edit out the files. SO EASY to use, no manual reading required or needed to make recordings right outta the box.

Some sound bytes I recorded a week or so ago, to test out mods to a Gibson GA5 tube amp.

Strat partscaster. The GA5 is only trinity modded with the stock Sig 8 speaker, mic'd with a Zoom H2 in stereo at about 12" off the speaker cone. The first rock licks are played with a pick and using the Keystone bridge pickup, the second ragtime tune is fingerpicked using the neck L200SN noiseless pickup, GA5 volume at noon. 6.7 meg WAV file.

Sig 8

A more modded GA5, trinity minus NFB, 20/16/16 Atoms, JVT couplers, 8A125T, same H2 recording setup. The first lick is with GA5 vol at noon, 2nd and 3rd licks with vol at 11am, heavy 1.14 Brain Pick used for all playing. 11meg WAV file.

8125T

Nice stuff Rob... what were the settings on the H2? Did you use the auto levels or just set it low?

There are lots of portable recorders out there now.
And I'm sure they are probably all very good.

But +1 here for the Zoom H2.
It is easy (even I can use it), the sound is great, lower cost than most and the box comes with everything you need.

I did all the tracks here with an H4, some mulitracking going on a few. Pretty amateur stuff but if it gives you an idea.....

Dynamic mic right at the speaker for the guitar (and drums...drum machine through my amp)

Not to hijack the thread but I noticed something today and have a question.

Before, I've only recorded acoustic music and I have previously sung the praises of the H2.
Today I recorded some of my practicing including one song with some medium to a little heavy distortion. Neck p/u only - Blues Jr volume on '6,' FAT switch on and Bad Monkey pedal. I thought the sounded was thick and creamy.
But when I listened back on the H2, a lot of the gain did not seem to be there.
Is it possible the Zoom "filtered out" or "sanitized" the sound? My ears playing tricks on me during the live sound?
Anyone else experience this?
I might also go to the Zoom forum and ask there too.
Thanks.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

As a follow-up experiment, I took out the Les Paul (copy) and cranked it up with HEAVY distortion. Well, that came out pretty much the same as recorded on the H2 as I originally heard it live.

So, I guess it was my ears.

Maybe in old age I'm losing some frequencies.
