best GarageBand book for musicians?
after replacing my fried processor, i'm back in the hunt with GB. i realize that to some of you guys, GB is kindergarten-level, but i'm determined to be the best dang kindergartner i can be!
a lot of the books i checked out on Amazon use the tutorial approach -- i hate that, cuz i wanna work on my own tracks, not some cheezy track on a CD they supply. i couldn't care less about podcasting and iLife, etc. i'm also not nutty about loops, though i use them occasionally. i just want down-and-dirty how-to information on producing tracks, especially deeper knowledge of the Track Editor window. any suggestions?

I know nothing about GarageBand, but I would avoid software tuturoial books in general, because, not only are they dry and stilted, they tend to be out of date before the ink dries on the page. Instead, find some good online forums where you can get fresh info, as well as ask questions.

If you live by an apple store, invest a hundred dollars in an Apple Pro Card.
For that, you get one hour of free one-on-one instruction in any apple program/hardware for a year. You can buy more than one card, and get multiple hours a week. |
