What'em think? Phonic Helix18FW..

16 channels straight into the computer... Anybody tried one? this could be the ticket to home recording bliss for me...

or not...

Your opinions informed or otherwise are appreciated

(goals: record 12 tracks at a time full band --- 4 drum mics, guitar, bass, guitar, fiddle, 4 vox.) low to moderate volume.)

I'd be cautiously optimistic. It looks, well, cheap. But if it can get the work done, go for it!

I'm also trying to get 16 in, and I'm thinking of getting another M-Audio Delta 1010lt to run alongside the one I already have. The big advantage of using actual soundcards versus firewire or USB is that the bandwidth is so much greater...

Cheers, Tim

I like my recording gear like I like my wimmen.....

my recording computer dudn't have slots... so no 1010 for me... I did recomend one to someone at GC the other day... I said, "Tim says they rule." and the guys said, "Okay, I'll take it." No kiddin'. The GC guy told me that the guy had been standing there for 20 minutes looking at the 410 and the 1010...

Armstrong to the rescue.
