Any one using Native Instruments MASCHINE?

I am looking for a way to augment my poor drumming skills, and am also tired of the basic hardware drum machines.

I got a demo of Maschine at GC from a guy who is pretty good with it, a MUCH better demo than all the hip-hop crap you see on the You Tube videos.

It is pricey, but I could see laying down kick and snare with it (with lots of dynamics, good (to my ear) sounding flams etc, then dubbing some live toms and cymbals.

Anyone using one? Can you make it sound realistic?

Thanks in advance.

Excellent Drum Machine and then some

I hate bumping myself, but if anyone is interested, this thing is a BEAST. Got one Friday night at GC, it was on sale for $449....it sounds very very good, easy enough to use as a stand alone. Can also use it as a plug-in with a DAW, I haven't gotten that far yet.

It is fully integrated with KOMPLETE 8, and ships with the KOMPLETE 8 Essentials, which includes a number of drum kits sampled at Abbey Road. Very easy to access, and the sound is killer. There are also some amazing percussion kits.

It has one tool called "50% Quantize". If you lay down your pattern on the pads with quantizing OFF, you can quantize the beats a little bit at a time, tightening up the pattern a bit at a time, but still leaving as much human feel as you want. Very cool.

I don't anticipate I will ever learn all that the MASCHINE can do, but it does what I need it to do right out of the box.

I don't work for them.
