New tune..Instrumental again..

This one is called "Solid Comfort", named by my wife. Simple, haunting , lay'd back..Taylor Acoustic direct, Fender J Bass direct and Dobro mic'd... copywrite 2012...

Here is the reverbnation link , Solid Comfort is listed..

http://www.reverbnation.com/artist/artist_songs/1278126

I have been writing simple melodies for AC Guitar, Mandolin and this new one adds the Dobro. I'm not trying to focus on the playing but rather the music, the phrasing and the melodies. I'll leave all the hot licks tunes for others more capable !

And yes, I have a few tunes in process which are Telecaster, Pedal Steel based and will also invite a few friends to add to the sessions...

(Pro-Tools 8 and Tracks3 mastering)

Tony, nice tune and laying!

My only critique would be there's a couple times where the note you're playing on the high E string is popping out. I don't know if you're using any compression, but you could try that (very lightly) or perhaps an even better approach would to go in and just pull those notes back a db or two in the automation.

Or, you could leave as is - they fly by pretty quickly and I doubt most casual listeners would even notice.

Cheers,
Geoff

Like the tune ... is the acoustic recorded with pickup only?

Really enjoyed that, had a slight medieval feel to it. Nice recording too. Is this a new genre, "medieval country"?

Geoff378 yes, those E's, I hear them as well, I am going back to the mix in a few days ( need time off for my ears) there are a few other things that I also hear that I need to address, ex: some low end growl...

I'm not looking for absolute perfection but rather the best I can get it , as in ME !

Woody , yes, the Taylor has a dual PUP Fishman system, I am using only one of the on board pups, the bridge Piezo. The system allows for one or the other in mono or both in stereo, plus it allows for a combination on a slider....The live mic inside picks up way too much noise from just living and breathing, it's probably good for a gig but not for tracking. It picks up noise from moving your arm or moving in the chair...

peteycaster...interesting " medieval country " what a concept, certainly not one I have entertained !

I should have stated that the mix above is probably two edits away from complete...after that I'll just call it a day and move on, there are a few obvious things I can repair but after that, what it is is what it will be..

I appreciate the comments and suggestions that will help make the final a bit better...

That is to be admired. I never seem to be able to let go.

There was a time when I was thinking perfection, in my mind, what ever that definition was.

Today, I have come to realize that I can change all sorts of things, in reality it may not get better, it's just different !

yeah, the phrasing of the licks on the dobro are excellent! This is exactly what I like to hear anymore, phrasing that is just what the tune needs. I get real tired of the hot lick guitar diarrhea stuff. The phrasing thing takes me back to the simplicity of how George Harrison put in licks that were just what the song needed, not too much and not too little. There is a real art to that, imho. Well done!

64Strat , thank you for the nice comment and overall awareness, I'm in full agreement with you. I too am getting worn out with all the hot licks, not that they aren't great, they are, but I'm at a point where I am enjoying simplicity in life and that includes music.
