Good start! I'll listen to it more tomorrow when I'm not so burned out (played two festivals in two states with two different bands this weekend — geezer power will only take you so far!).

Thanks for the feedback so far!

any of you that have done these tunes know how hard the vocals are to get right. We're going to do another take on the vocals to see if we can get them closer yet.

I'm thinking about re-doing the bass part to get the occassional hammer-on McCartney did on the E--->F#. I'll study where he does them to get them in the right spots.

I also still might bring the tambourine up a little bit more in the mix, which was done with a mic'ed real tambourine by the way.

You hear anything else?

I thought your mix of the main guitar riff sounded full and fat -- front and center in the mix, which it needs to be for this song. Very nice. What did you do to accomplish that?

That was the easy part.

An old ES335 with fairly dead strings into a Mesa Boogie Trans Atlantic 15w amp in a Normal Vox setting with a pair of greenback 25w Celestion 12's in a open back cab and a EV ND-468 dynamic mic on one of the 12's, positioned mid cone and slightly off axis. After capture, I used a light vintage compressor plug-in, a little linear EQ and real Reverb. I then doubled the track. The two tracks are panned one 15dB right and the other panned 15dB left.

The 2nd guitar part is a combination of my old Esquire and the same 335 both through the TA15 in clean Vox Top Boost configuration. Amp is mic'ed as above. Panned pretty hard to one side.

The bridge lead guitar part is the 335 through the TA15 on Vox Top Boost, with the amp cranked pretty hard. Mic'ed the same. Down the middle, as I recall.

hahaha...!!! a pair of perfectly refurb'ed originals would be a dream.

btw, what you hear on the first pass is through my Rode NT2000. The next pass, the main vox tracks will be through an AKG C414. We'll see.

I bought a RODE NT1 on a lark several years ago.
Surprised the heck out of me. Those Aussies know how to make a decent Condenser.

I have a 414 as well. CAN'T go wrong with one of those.
Not much a 414 won't do!
