Recording software

Is there recording software for under 200 bucks that works significantly better than audacity?

Just wondering because I'm collecting recording 'stuff.'

I'm a big fan of Reaper. The free trial isn't crippled in any way, and it's only $50 for the non-commercial license. Comes with a ton of plugins, is updated frequently and has a very lively and friendly user community. www.reaper.fm

Check out Ardour, its free. I'm not sure if it is available for windows yet, I use it on Ubuntu Linux.

Spend your $200 on a nice mic or something. I never buy software anymore.

Another +1 for Reaper. In addition to being free to try and very low cost, it has excellent documentation and a great user base with very active forums.
