looking for a multitrack thats half decent, cheap and easy to use, any ideas folks?

Hi there, Ive been using a Fostex VF80EX recorder with the built in cd burner. Ive been using it steadily since fall 2004, have spent many many hours recording on this one, done many demoes, as well as mixed down and mastered a dozen or so albums on it. In the last 6 months it has started acting up, the jog dial has had it and lots of weird messages and pages pop up out of nowhere, it is no longer reliable, and I am lookng to replace it with something of equivalent or greater quality and ease of use. Possibly a few extra preamps would be great. thanks folks, Darcy

if your recording ambitions are open-ended, i'd suggest looking into a computer-based rig. in my opinion, a standalone unit will only get you so far.
