CD Baby, IODA, or ?

Last year I put out an EP on CD Baby. Since then I have learned about other means of independently releasing a CD, things such as IODA. Does anyone have experience with things other than CD Baby, or experience with both? I'm looking for suggestions on the best means to get out an independent CD in today's market.

haven't done it yet but you could sell on itunes. Reverbnation always has promotions for it.

I should say that I mean both hard copy CD and digital sales. Most, if not all distribution places (like CD Baby) take care of digital distribution for you which includes ITunes. My EP has been up on ITunes, Amazon.com and others for quite some time, which is cool.

I would use Tunecore for digital distribution.

You pay a one-time fee to register your EP and you keep all the money it earns (as opposed to giving CD Baby 9% forever). You also have more control over the artwork etc. and they get your music on every legal download site (iTunes, Napster, Emusic, Rhapsody etc.).

Unless you are a touring band selling CD's at your shows or already have a large fanbase, why bother pressing CD's? Did you sell enough of your current EP to justify the expense of manufacturing it?

If you do decide to do CD's, I would suggest CD Baby for physical product and Tunecore for digital distribution.

By the way, you can get a discount coupon for Tunecore on Guitar Center's website.

We're an odd group, we aren't looking to make money on our actual CDs. We use them for promotion, send them to radio stations, things like that. We HAND them out at festivals when we play. Just to get them in people's hands and so on. We had 200 copies of our EP at the start of 2008 and today I have 24 left. So we do utilize them.

CD Baby has been OK to just have it around, but maybe we don't even need to sell the hard CD, rather just digital?
