Can U listen To This Mix?
I posted a tune in Twanger and was wondering if you could have a listen.
I usually mix with phones and recorrect with my monitors which aren't the best. Trying to figure out if I'm hearing correctly. To me the janglie strummed electric needs to be cut back quite alot, and the bass too but just a little bit not alot. Are my ears decieving me? Sorry for the slow tempo and repetition. http://www.tdpri.com/forum/twanger-c...oss-river.html |

Well I'm nobody to put forth an opinion based on my crappy little computer speakers but I like it.
I think you are right about pulling the guitar down some if you plan to add lyrics. Personally I could think of all kinds of lyrics to put on top of that music. Of course, I've been on a Tom Petty kick lately so it sounds like that in my head.

Stuh,
Adjust the attack on the guitars just too harsh for me.. levels may do it... I liked it immediately as it reminds me of a really cool tune.... if that is a loop or a string pad in the back... i'd bring it up a smidge... lots of foreground and stuff way in the back... but a hole in the middle... (or maybe I'm all wet.)

StuH, only listened to the remix. I think it sounds great in cheap cans and my old pioneers.
Like the seperation and when the lead pops in "up front" that was great! like it alot. Nice work! KC

Personally I would bring the drums up. I say that about 90% of the time. It sounds fine to me. If you plan on vocals in a mix like this you can do some sort of side-chain thing so the loudest guitar ducks under when the vocal comes in.

Hi Stu, sorry I'm late (I overslept) ...
First of all, very pretty song! I dug it alot. Now, listening on M-Audio BX5a monitors ... I agree with OC, I want way more drums. It's O.K. to let them in there - they're part of the band, too. They won't frak up your nice melody work ... too much. I want it all punchier (how much compression was used?), maybe with more low-mid growl in the bass to give it more "oomph" and grip. Keep going, you're getting there. Don't be afraid to set everything back to zero and have at it again. Mix fast, throw faders and EQ around, go nuts! Did I mention that I liked the song? mud
