CAD Trion 8000 Tube Mic
Anyone familiar with these? I just picked up one today on closeout. Nice mic; sounds very "natural," somehow.
I'd like to have a spare tube or two on hand, just in case, but I can't figure out what this thing uses. Anybody know?

can you crack the case to ID the tube? i couldn't find out what the tube is either ... i'd been looking at these too. if it's an el cheapo tube, putting something good in there will probably change the sound for the better. ... as with any tube device, it'll benefit from warming up for a while before use.

Yeah, I could look inside, but I resist opening something brand new... just on G.P.
Online, some people were saying it takes a EF95 / 6ak5 tube. Fortunately, I found an email address for CAD tech support, so hopefully I'll hear from them soon. FWIW, I stumbled into this mic on closeout at Sam Ash for $240, so this might be a good time to be shopping.

P.S. Online, these little mic tubes go for about $4. Not bad!
