Sonar project posted over in Twanger Central

http://www.tdpri.com/forum/twanger-c...ml#post1762092

A Steel Guitar project with some Tele content, Bucks "Cryin' Time Again"

This is an early mix as I am still seeking mixing wisdom

I have been learning Sonar since Dec and this was quite the task.

Sonar 7 Home Studio
Maudio 2496 2x2 card
ART DUAL preamp
Drums on Demand
Maudio Oxygen 8
Carter Double Ten
52RI Telecaster
Strat HWY One
JBass 62RI
Cheap MXL 2001 Condensor
Wife on vocals ( Bonnie)
cats
phones ringing
Everything recorded direct thru the ART preamp
lots of knowledge sunk into the cranial region

The Tele part was the only "first take" of the whole project, the wife did her part in 3 takes , all 3 were good but the last I felt was the most relaxed. No pitch correction. The drums took the longest, it seems like forever. I started with easy Drummer then went to Drums On Demand with some fills played using the Oxygen 8.

nice 'un, Tony — was that the C6 or E9 neck? every now and then i'd hear echoes of our mutual guru, steeler Joe Smith.

so, with Bonnie (sounds good!), you didn't slice-n-dice the three tracks — you took one continuous track?

Hey Woody, E9th with extended pulls, and yes , Bonnie's track was one take all the way through, well let me clarify, there are two basic sections to her track, pre solo's and post solo's. I obviously stopped tape and jumped to the 2nd section, but no slice and dice for either of the sections. She spends a few moments before the red button to get the feel of it all.

I can somehow see another preamp coming home with me someday ! I started out with a Tascam USB Interface , could not solve the latency issues so I canned that and bought the Maudio hard card interface at the advice of an internet friend . The latency issue was gone "out of the box ". The other thing that impressed me the most was the Maudio Oxygen 8 keyboard, this is a very cool tool.

Hell of an education !
