Home Playing..I need help!!! Please!!!

Hi friends, I'm writing from Italy and I need your help. Well, I got a Power Mac g5 Dual at my home and a Presounus Firebox to connect guitar and I got just a iMac 2.0ghz at my Girlfriend's house. Now I'm looking for something to play at both home in everymoment... I'm talking about POD, Toneport or Guitar Rig, Guitar Rig session. I'd like something for play over iTunes songs and learning.... It may be work standalone and Plugin mode. I got Digital Performer too and if I want to record a good riff , a good plugin can help! So I looked all the Line6 site and I really don't understand the difference between Pod, Toneport,Gearbox Plugin or software, silver or gold ecc. Now the gearbox got good price but I can't decide... Once I tried Guitar Rig 3 software and I like it, are the line6 products better? Pod X3 would be the best choice? I'm really confused and I want to pay in vain.....

Please help me. Thanks!!!

The Tone Port is an audio I/O for guitar, bass, vocals, ect. Gearbox is the software that runs the modeling programs on your computer. The gold bundle gives you all the available tones, effects, and other goodies as well as making Gearbox funtion as a plug-in on most DAW recording programs like Cubase, Sonar, Garage Band. The POD X3 is an effects unit that you can use for recording but you need an I/O into your computer. The TonePort Gold Bundle pretty much has all the same effects and sounds as the POD X3.
If you are going to go with the Line 6 stuff than I would suggest the Tone Port UX2, this will give you 2 inputs, and get it with the Gold Bundle.

There are a few ways you can go about this.

1-Buy the Tone Port which already comes with the basic tones and a CD to install Gearbox. You can go to the Line 6 website and download the gold bundle when you have everything up and running. I believe it still comes with Ableton Lite also, so you can do recording right out of the box.

2-Buy the Tone Port with the Gold bundle at any music store.

You can get the UX2 Toneport for about $139.99 American, I don't know how that translates into Euros or Lire but with the weak dollar you should get a good deal. I bought my Toneport a few years ago and the price has dropped considerably. Once you install the Gearbox software you will be directed to also download what Line 6 calls "ToneMonkey" which you need to subscribe to so you can receive and download the latest firmware updates and it is also where you can purchase the Gold Bundle as well as other "expansion packs". Its very easy to do. And the software is PC/Mac compatible

Just to let you know, I am suggesting the Tone Port because it is what I am using, I'm not suggesting its better or lesser than Guitar Rig but than again Line 6 were one of the first companies to do what they offer and it works great. Good luck and let me know how you make out.

i've been using a POD for nearly 10 years now, and really like it. but if i were in your situation today, i'd go for the TonePort in a heartbeat. if you're working with 2 gig Macs and have ample RAM, you should be golden.

Thanks my friend! I knew you could help me! Well Toneport with Gold Bundle will be!!!
So tell me if I understand. At my home I can install just Gearbox included in the package and use my Presounus Firebox as Input/output and it would be work in Standalone and Plug In mode.

At my Girlfriend's home I'll use Toneport UX2 with Gearbox and it would be work in Standalone and Plug In mode.

Many many thanks again. Exuse me for my delay but I had to work....
