made my mind up: we will go into a "real" studio

hi guys,
we want to take the next step. and i hope that in late autumn we will be ready to do a live recording in a real studio. itīs very small and cheap, but the guy who owns it, seems to dig our stuff. we want to rehearse the tracks like crazy, record them on a zoom h2 first for control and then play it without any overdubs in the studio. to catch the raw energy. what do you think about that plan? eddie

sounds like a good plan for your sound, Eddie. the main drawback to home recording is being saddled with the engineering chores... this way you'll work faster and be able to concentrate on the music you're playing. it's still just you and the Rhythm Cat, right?

what program will you be recording in?

I think that's a great idea, Eddie! With all the home recording practice you've done, you certainly won't suffer from the common problem folks run into in the studio of "red light panic", where folks freeze up when the engineer says go!

My brother and I have been thinking about going to a really excellent and well-equipped local studio to record basic tracks for our next CD (if we ever get some songs written!), and then doing overdubs and mixing it here. I kinda like the idea of using expensive mics!

Cheers, Tim

Very good idea, Eddie, especially the part about pre-production practice recordings. Get tight, get your practice recordings sounding decent and you'll have a blast in the studio and make a great record!

Have at it!
