M-AUDIO PRO with Cakewalk

nOOb here!!! Any suggestion on helping the learning curve of laptop recording. I read all the help, but the more I read the moore confused it gets. I just want to keep it simple and get a descent sound. I also bought MXL condenser mike package at GC. Does cakewalk have drum loops in it? I have a sr-16 aleise drum machine? Do I need to the midi stuff? When I hook the m-audio up via the usb will everything go through that? HELP!!!

Some M-Audio interfaces will only work with some recording programs.
Can you see anymore info for the device other than M-Audio. They make alot of audio interfaces.

And what type of operatong system are you using? Windows xp, vista?

I finally got it to see the drivers. I was able to record then play back and hear the recording plus another part with no latency. I'm using windows Xp home addition. with the m-audio pro interface. I'm open to any suggestion or tips.
cheers

Great, that is actually a pretty good program to start off with. Should be able to do just about anything you want, and you should be able to expand thqt with other vst or dx plugins if you need more effects or virtual instruments. Lot's of good free ones available if you are missing any including multi guitar effects stuff.
