Tele-phone Ratrod Guitar

I wanted to know if I could take a cheap a%@ guitar and turn it into something more. I wanted to build a real rat guitar because I love rat rods. The main criterion was that it had a good neck that felt good to play. I started with a late 90's Epiphone T-310 and ripped it apart. I kind of liked the goofy Explorer-style headstock. I added a Fender 51 Nocaster neck pickup and a Seymour Duncan vintage stacked humbucker in the bridge position. I replaced all the controls and added a push-pull volume control to split the humbucker. Then added brass saddles and Grover Rotomatic mini locking tuners. I reliced all the hardware with muriatic acid and replaced the pickguard with an Indian motorcycle sign. I sanded the white body and finished it with red primer and then Krylon semi-gloss black. I wet sanded the heck out of it until it had a great gloss finish and the primer started showing through. I also sanded the neck and fretboard to take off the high gloss finish. The end result plays and sounds great. I call it The Chief.

I was so in love with that guitar until I saw the headstock!

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, the headstock put me off at first, but it's starting to grow on me. What was Gibson thinking? Later, they switched to more of a batwing shape. Not sure which one is worse. I'm tempted to try this again since I had a great time building this, but every additional guitar pushes another one farther back in the closet. I can't seem to part with any of them.
